The first in our series of ELABORATIONS, this one dealing with Lost and Found Objects, Boredom, Dirt and Size as a Factor.

1. Cindy finds Mac's missing address book in a junk basket behind the couch -- missing for several months -- walks it over, offers it to Mac, who is reading The New York Times and drinking coffee:

"Thanks Cindy, that's great. I've been looking all over for that."

Mac takes the address book upstairs. Hides it. Returns to reading.

2. Cindy finds a dirty tin-can lid -- the can lost years back, once filled with something, purchased at the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway. She says she found the lid in the driveway yesterday, cleaned the dirt off. She walks the lid over to Mac, offers it.

"Thanks Cindy, that's really nice."

Mac takes the lid. Sets it on the table by the coffee mug. Returns to the sports pages.

3. Cindy finds a pile of gold sparkles in a fake-crystal dish -- left on Betsy's visit during her "glass-crafts" phase. Cindy walks the sparkles to Mac, offers them:

"Thanks, Cindy. Wonderful." -- Sets the sparkles aside. Turns to the obituaries.

4. Cindy finds a brown spider with black and maybe yellow spots on it. The spider swings from her finger as she walks it over, then dangles over the obits, as she offers it.

"I do not want a spider."

"Why not? It's just a little one."
